Socialising is easy and fun!

One of the most important activities you can do with your dog, and one you should do, is to socialise him/her.

That means taking him out everyday so he can explore new smells, new areas, new people, new dogs and other animals.

Well socialised dogs tend to be more friendly and less fearful of new things, therefore making your dog confident and comfortable with all kinds of experiences.

A great place to take your dog as part of your routine is the dog park. Educate yourself so that when you are observing his behaviour you understand exactly what is going on in his world. As well as getting used to, and accepting of other dogs, he will also get used to different people. This is very important as the only experience your dog should have when people come to your home should be pleasant.

Socialising your dog is easy and fun, and is something that must continue throughout your dog's life. If you do not socialise your dog he may become fearful and could easily develop two of the most serious and hard to fix problems, biting and fighting.

Jensen goes to the dog park every afternoon and as you can see from the video he has a lot of friends. This is the highlight of his day. 🐕 ENJOY. 😄

Hey everyone this is me, Jensen, enjoying the last of the yummy sticky and tasty peanut butter! I managed to get every little bit from the bottom of the plastic jar. Check out my 'peanut butter licking' video after the important message about peanut butter below.

  • Make sure the peanut butter you give your dog is 100% natural. This is so you avoid food colourings and nasty unhealthy preservatives.
  • Check the ingredients on the back of the container to make sure. Especially check for something called Xylitol. This is highly toxic to dogs.
  • Natural peanut butter contains a balanced level of protein and carbohydrates as well as healthy fats that boost energy and stamina. Active dogs like me love it!
  • It also has omega fatty acids and has been known to reduce the bad cholesterol in dogs.

BUT

  • Don't give your dog peanut butter every day. Too much can be harmful so a few times a week is enough.
  • For small dogs a teaspoon is good and for us bigger dogs a tablespoon is perfect!
